Our Story

our story

Whilst living in & loving the vibrancy that a city like London encapsulates, another landscape began whispering to me until I could ignore it no more. At the end of 2020 this led to me returning to the country I left nearly 20 years previously.

The landscape in Wicklow is so beautiful with its textures & ever changing colours that speak to my soul, making my fingers tingle.

I have worked with clay for nearly 20 years predominantly fine porcelain. Making forms such as light bowls, vases, lamps & cups.

Working the porcelain to near paper fine thickness I am interested in seeing how delicate you can work with the porcelain while retaining its strength, form & function, engaging with the translucent property porcelain has for lights & lamps.

My love of spending time in nature has increased since moving home; the coastline, Wicklow hills & woods have unconsciously inspired new collections of etched and decorated vases & dishes. The most exciting thing to me since moving back is the new sense of freedom I feel, allowing myself to play with the pieces I am making, especially in the decoration.

Using a rough stoneware clay alongside & in contrast to the smooth porcelain I am interested in how making similar forms in the contrasting material have a different feel & aesthetic.

Each piece is unique whilst forming part of a collection.

Throughout my time working with clay I have never felt solo in my endeavours to run my business; whether it be friends, family, customers who have passed by once, or returned many times, galleries and stockists, fellow creatives, organisers of fairs, markets and events, collaborations with film, lighting and interior designers, all have contributed. So whilst I spend majority of my working time in the company of music and my sidekick, Finnegan, the Whippet X, I would not still be making and evolving if it wasn’t for everyone who has stepped into my world of clay at some point; so “my” story does not feel quite right, “our” story is more fitting.
