Porcelain table lamp. After making a straight column, I etch linear lines into the surface and while the porcelain is still semi soft I work gentle bends & curves into the form. Once the vessel is leatherhard dry I refine the etched lines.

I am interested in how shape & form of the vase dictates the pattern of lines & light, where I have etched porcelain away more light will glow through.

After an initial firing I glaze the interior with a clear glaze.
Then it is fired in a high temperature firing of 1265 degrees the translucent properties of the porcelain becomes apparent. After the firings I sand the exterior to a smooth tactile surface and apply a finishing wax polish to the surface.

The lamps sit on top of a solid light base which come with either a charcoal or natural cable. The fittings take a E27 screw in bulb. Depending on the type of bulb you use, you will get different shades of light through the porcelain surface. I have used a linear warm bulb in the photos.
