Organic porcelain stripe vase

from €80.00

White porcelain vase with copper oxide stripes. After making a straight column vase two etched lines are carves into opposing sides of the form. While the porcelain is still semi soft I work gentle bends & curves into the straight vase. The linear line on either side highlights these bends & when sat next to another vase the bends create positive & negative spaces between them.

After an initial firing I glaze the interior with a clear glaze & add copper oxide to the etched lines.

Lastly the vases are fired in a high temperature of 1265 degrees where it becomes non porous & the oxide changes to create a burnt black/green hue. After the firings I sand the exterior to a smooth tactile surface.

These vases look beautiful either as a single vase or grouped together with different heights.

Each vase is unique, with the bends, heights & how strong (dark) the oxide is on the vase . Being a handmade piece there will be small differences in the surfaces. If you have any questions please drop me a message.
